Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 13, 2026

English version — Romanian version available separately

This Privacy Policy explains how MyRemindApp ("the App", "we", "our", "the Service") collects, uses, stores, and protects the personal data of its users ("you", "the user"). By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this document.

1. Data we collect

Account data

  • Email address and password — used for authentication via Firebase Authentication (Google). Your password is encrypted and never visible to us.
  • Subscription plan (Free, Standard, or Premium).

Reminder data

  • Name, category, subcategory, expiry dates, recurrence frequency, and notification times/days that you configure.
  • Optional "custom" email addresses you add for notifications, different from your account email.
  • City and equipment model (e.g. boiler model), if you fill these in to find local providers.

Technical data for notifications

  • Expo push tokens — a unique device identifier, used solely to deliver push notifications.
  • Monthly count of emails sent, used to enforce your plan's limits.

2. Attached documents

Files (PDFs, photos) you attach to a reminder are saved exclusively locally on your device, using the phone's internal storage. These files are never uploaded to our servers and are not accessible to other users, including members of a shared group. If you uninstall the app or switch devices, these files may be lost.

3. Phone calendar sync

If you enable "Add to calendar" (available on the Standard and Premium plans), the App requests permission to access your device's calendar in order to create, update, or delete events corresponding to your reminders. The App does not read or access any other existing events in your calendar — it only interacts with events it created. This sync happens entirely on your device; calendar data is not transmitted to our servers.

4. Sharing with groups (Shared feature)

Users on the Standard or Premium plan can create groups (e.g. "Family", "Friends") and invite other App users via the email address linked to their account. When you create a group or accept an invitation:

  • Your email address becomes visible to other members of that group.
  • Reminders you explicitly mark as "shared with a group" (name, date, status) become visible to all group members.
  • Group members can mark a shared reminder as "resolved" or "unresolved", and other members receive a push notification about this change.

Attached documents, personal notes, and reminders not explicitly marked as shared are not visible to other members.

5. Third-party services we use

The App relies on the following service providers to operate:

ServicePurposeData shared
Google Firebase
Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Functions
Authentication, storing reminders and account data, server logic (notifications, scheduled emails) Email, password (encrypted), reminder data, push token, subscription plan
SendGrid (Twilio) Sending email notifications for reminders Recipient email address, notification content (reminder name, expiry date)
Expo (push notifications) Delivering push notifications to your device Device push token, notification title and content
Apple / Google App distribution via the App Store / Google Play and system-level notification services (APNs / FCM) As governed by Apple's and Google's own policies

We do not use advertising or tracking SDKs, and we do not sell personal data to third parties.

6. Why we use this data

  • To provide the App's core functionality: creating, managing, and notifying you about reminders.
  • To send push and email notifications at the times you configure.
  • To enable sharing reminders with groups you create or are invited to.
  • To enforce the limits specific to your subscription plan (Free/Standard/Premium).
  • To improve the App's stability and security (e.g. debugging errors).

7. Storage & security

Your data is stored on Google Firebase, in a European Union region (Europe West). Communication between the app and our servers is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS. Access to data is restricted through Firestore security rules, so each user can only read and modify their own data, except for information explicitly shared with a group (see section 4).

8. Your rights (GDPR)

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you;
  • Rectify inaccurate data;
  • Erase your data ("right to be forgotten");
  • Restrict or object to processing;
  • Data portability to another service;
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority — in Romania, the National Supervisory Authority for Personal Data Processing (ANSPDCP).

To exercise these rights, contact us at the email address listed in the Contact section.

9. Data retention & deletion

Your data is retained for as long as your account remains active. To request complete deletion of your account and associated data, send a request to our contact email address. Deletion requests will be processed as soon as reasonably possible, in accordance with our legal obligations.

10. Children's privacy

The App is not intended for children under the age of 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated through an in-app notification or by email. The date of the last update is shown at the top of this document.
